This weekend as I sat in the safety of our home listening to the sounds of pouring rain and gusting winds surround our house for three days, my heart went out to our neighboring city as we watched the destruction of Hurricane Harvey devastate Houston. The images were heart-breaking and terrifying as we inundated ourselves with the latest updates while we watched the category 4 hurricane move closer to our city. I couldn’t help but think how horrible it must be for these families who just hours ago sat in the safety of their homes, and now had literally no homes to go back to. The faces of fear and the reflections of hopelessness echoed through my mind every night when I closed my eyes to fall asleep. How will they ever rebuild their lives, their homes, and their dreams? The thought of it must be so overwhelming for these people, especially since Houston is expected to receive more rainfall this coming week.
I truly believe that at any point we are called to fall to our knees in prayer and seek strength and guidance from a higher Source greater than ourselves. Whether you believe that prayers are through thoughts or words, I ask that you take a moment to pray for those who have been affected by Hurricane Harvey. #prayfortexas #creatingutopia #prayer
