Finding Your Joy!

Are you living a life of joy? If you would have asked me years ago if fitness would have brought me joy, I would have laughed and said… NO! However, over the past 2 years I have discovered whole new level of joy through my fitness. Not only does it inspire me to become a better version of myself, but I am able to help push my clients into becoming healthier and more fit by changing their mindset and being an example. Although I have been enjoying my workouts, my motivation has been on a slow decline. For the past 3 months, it has actually been on a luge ride down a long and dark road that has left me unmotivated and frustrated. Because of this, I found myself going to the gym less than usual and while I was there I was wishing I wasn’t. This was definitely NOT me! Until recently, I enjoyed working out 6 days a week and was so dedicated that it became part of my schedule just like my coaching sessions. Lately, the 6 days per week became 4, then when it became 3 days a week I knew I needed to change my mindset. I just didn’t know how.

After shedding some tears, I decided that I would reach out on my social media page for inspiration. I needed prayers for motivation and a change in mindset. My Miracle Workers responded with prayers and great tips to help me push beyond my limited thinking. One of the people who responded was my previous trainer and new accountability partner Amy. Since she needed some motivation as well, Amy offered to workout with me three times a week to help us both push beyond our limits. This is exactly what I needed! I truly believe that God allows us to extend our hand for help and allow another person to uplift us, and we can pay it forward by doing the same thing. This blog is one of the ways I wanted to pay it forward, so I can help motivate you and uplift your spirit, change your limiting mindset, and gain an overall new perspective on your fitness goals.

One of the things I learned through introspection this weekend was the amount of fear I had when it came to reaching a new level of fitness. I tell my clients on a daily basis, that if they are not reaching their goals there must be an overpowering fear associated with the achievement of that goal. Otherwise, the mind would push through and really connect to already having the experience. Sometimes the fear can be the fear of the unknown, the fear of disapproval, or even the fear of achieving it. What would your life look like today if you already had this goal? Would you be happier? How so? Would your activity level change?  How about your joy?

My biggest struggle has been my mindset and this is because I need to set a goal. Something fitness related that will inspire me to push myself harder in the gym and remain dedicated to healthy eating during the holidays. I have thought about fitness competitions, but it just doesn’t feel realistic to me… or maybe it doesn’t bring me joy. I have already participated in three half-marathons and completed them out of sheer will! These brought so much joy to my spirit, I cannot even begin to describe how I felt. Now I need a new goal. Something that will push me into getting to the next level of becoming a better and stronger version of suzybootz! 🙂

While I am praying about my new goal, at least God has answered my prayers about motivation. If you can find an accountability partner who also shares the same goal of improving their fitness level, then you can push one another every day. For instance… Amy wants to meet tomorrow at 6am for our workout! I thought 6am was only for coffee, but apparently I am setting a whole new mindset of what I can accomplish with my body this early in the morning. Without Amy as my accountability partner, I would have never thought of getting my workout in, and as a result I will have more time throughout the day to accomplish advancing my client personal development goals! It’s a win-win.

The next time you experience a dream that may at the time appear unattainable, rather than tucking it into the recesses of your mind to collect dust, acknowledge this dream. Ask yourself, how you would feel if you were able to experience the creation of it. For through love all things are possible. Now that you are looking at reaching your goals before the end of the decade… push yourself towards this goal. You will discover more joy in your life today and in the process realize you can accomplish anything you set your mind to. Fitness is just one component of creating a healthy mind, body, and soul. You are all spiritual beings having a physical experience. When you decide to create an overall well-rounded healthy life then you will enjoy it so much more than you once thought you could. I believe in your dreams. Dream big and realize you are a Miracle Worker!
